How to Apply for Kenyan Passport
Passport Requirements
1. All applicants must fill the application forms Form PP1(downloadable from the Immigration website www.immmigration.co.ke)
2. Documentary evidence of Kenya Citizenship i.e. Naturalisation, Registration, and Birth Certificates & ID/Card original and copies.
3. Photographs of the applicant taken full face, without head-scuff or wigs. The photographs must have been taken within the last six months of the date of passport application. Photographs may be black and white or coloured and must not be mounted. The size of the photographs must 2 by 1½ inches, machine photos are not acceptable.
4. The applicant has to appear in person for online photo capture.
Note: Children born abroad can only acquire Kenyan citizenship by descent if the father is a Kenyan citizen.
Children excluded from the above category need to obtain a dependant’s pass then registered as Kenyan citizens.
How to Apply for a Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN Certificate Online
1. Log onto www.kra.go.ke/portal, open Taxpayer Registration link and on the right hand side under Online Services, click on Taxpayer Registration.
2. Choose either New Taxpayer (if you don’t have a PIN) or Existing Taxpayer (if you already have a PIN)
3. Fill in all mandatory fields with asterisk (*) then confirm correctness of the data and submit.
4. KRA will respond through your e-mail address providing you with a PIN, Password and Security Stamp.
5. Go to Taxpayer Registration fill in the PIN, Password and Security Stamp then login.
6. Change your password (please remember this for security reasons) to a password of your own choice which must be Eight characters i.e. Six letters and 2 numbers as instructed.
7. Choose Main Menu, Enquiry then Print your Taxpayer Registration Certificate.

How to check on KPLC Bill Balance and Bill Due Date by SMS (E –Bill Service)
1. Open a new SMS message.
2. Type the first part of your account number in the message field. For example, if your account number is 998877-01, just type 998877.
3. Send this message to 5551.
4. In a few seconds you will receive an automatic reply with your account balance details.
Note: This service works for Kenyan networks. It is charged at Ksh. 5/- above the normal SMS rates.
How to check on KPLC Bill Balance and Bill Due Date by Email (E –Bill Service)
1. Open a new e-mail message.
2. Type the first part of your account number in the subject field. For example, if your account number is 998877-01, just type 998877.
3. Email the blank message to bill (at) kplc.co.ke
4. Within a few minutes you will receive an automatic reply with your account balance details and payment due date.
How to pay KPLC Bill through Equity Bank ATM
1. Enter your ATM card.
2. Enter PIN.
3. Select Other Services.
4. Select Bill Payment.
5. Enter your KPLC A/C Number (NB: DO NOT ENTER THE HYPEN “-” E.g. Account 0043798 - 01, should be entered as 004379801).
6. Enter the amount to pay and confirm.
7. On successful payment attach the printout on the KPLC bill for future reference.
How to Pay Electricity Bills using M-Pesa (Safaricom)
1. Select “Pay Bill” from the M-Pesa menu.
2. Enter the KPLC business number 888888.
3. Enter your full KPLC account number e.g. 123456-01.
4. Enter the amount you wish to pay which should be between Ksh. 100 to 35,000.
5. Enter your M-Pesa PIN.
6. Confirm that all details are correct.
7. You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS
How to Pay Electricity Bills using Zap (Airtel)
1. Select ''Money'' from the Zap menu.
2. Under the nickname option, type KPLC.
3. Enter the amount you wish to pay.
4. Enter your password.
5. Under the reference option, type your full KPLC account number e.g. 123456-01.
6. Confirm that all details are correct.
7. You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS.
